As a photographer, I often get asked about the different types of sessions I offer. One that has gained popularity over the years is the 'mini session'. But what are they, and why might they be perfect for your family?
What is a mini session?
Put simply a mini session is a short photography session. They are scheduled for specific dates, are held at the studio in Towcester (NN12 6YY) and typically last around 30 minutes. Perfect for maternity, babies, children, families and pets that just want a taster of what a session with Miranda Walton Photography is like.
Why choose a mini session?
Life can be busy, or some may say hectic when small children or pets are involved! A mini session takes less than an hour out of your day and if you book early you can choose a time that works around your busy schedule. They're a budget friendly option... you will still have the most beautiful portraits, but because they run back-to-back in the studio and have set themes/backgrounds they are cheaper than a fully bespoke session.
What to expect from your mini session?
Mini sessions are short and sweet and have the option of 1, 3 or 5 photographs included in your session fee. There is an option to buy purchase extra photos but you will only have around 10 photographs to choose from - so if you already know you're going to want an album of 30 photos then a bespoke session is definitely for you. Mini sessions are perfect if you want a few professional photographs to remember an occasion, celebrate a milestone, or just to make sure you get to be in some of the family photographs too!
Top tips for your mini session
Be prepared - arrive in the first outfit you want to be photographed in so we're ready to begin, but there'll be time for a change if you like during your session. Eg. for Christmas mini sessions you might want to start in Christmas jumpers, but bring PJs to change into!
Be punctual - sessions run back to back so turning up late will eat into your scheduled time.
Pack a bag - remember to bring snacks, drinks and any toys your little one might want - I've got plenty of tricks up my sleeve for getting smiles, but you know your little one best and it's useful to have these to 'pull out of the bag' if needed!

Friday 24th and Saturday 25th January

Mummy & Me Mini Session
Sunday 2nd March
Perfect to celebrate Mother's Day on 30th March. Dads this make the perfect early Mother's Day gift - any artwork you order will be back in time to gift on the day.
Daddy & Me Mini Session
Saturday 31st May
Celebrate Father's Day with a beautiful portrait of dad with his children. Artwork will be back in time to gift on Father's Day.
Christmas Mini Session
Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th November
Get prepared early with the perfect photograph for your Christmas cards and the most treasured gifts for your family.
Booking is now open for the Love Mini Sessions on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th January.
