A Peek Behind the Scenes: What to Expect at a Newborn Photoshoot

Welcoming a newborn into your family is an incredibly special time. As a newborn photographer, my role is to encapsulate these fleeting moments into lifelong memories. If you're curious about what happens during a newborn photoshoot, let me give you a glimpse behind the scenes.

The Comfort of your Own Home

From my many years of experience I've found clients love the convenience of not having to leave their homes in those early days for a photoshoot. You'll have everything you'll need to hand and won't have any stress of being in an unfamiliar surrounding. All I need is that you keep the room we'll be using nice and warm (as your baby will be naked or have little clothes on at points during your session) and a small amount of space a plug for my light.

Patience is Key

Newborn sessions can take time - usually between 2-3 hours. This allows for plenty of breaks for feeding, changing, and soothing. I never rush a session; it's essential your baby feels comfortable and safe and that we go at their pace.

A Soothing Touch

Safety and comfort are my priorities when posing your newborn. Over the years, I've learned how to handle newborns gently and safely. I'll swaddle and soothe your baby into dreamy, comfortable poses that highlight their adorable, delicate features.

Capture the Details

During the photoshoot, I focus not only on capturing your baby's face but also their tiny details: the newborn fluff on their shoulders, their miniature fingers and toes, and their wispy hair. These are the little things you'll want to remember forever.

The Magic Happens

After the photoshoot, I carefully select and edit the best images from the session, enhancing each photo's unique charm while preserving the authenticity of the moment. This meticulous post-production process ensures each image you receive is a work of art. I'll come back to your home to show you your photographs and help you order what you love.

Your newborn's safety and comfort are my top priorities during a photoshoot. Rest assured, your little one is in gentle and caring hands, ready to capture those precious first days of life.
